Heritage River Journeys Predicts New Wave of Demand for Ganges Cruises, after its Luxury Ship Starred in Channel 5’s Cruising with Jane McDonald
Heritage River Journeys, the luxury river cruise brand from the Exotic Heritage Group, is predicting a new wave of interest in its incredible itineraries on the Ganges River, following the broadcast of a two-part special of Cruising with Jane McDonald, filmed aboard the cruise line’s Ganges Voyager II ship.
The Bafta award-winning, Channel 5 travelogue, hosted by ex-cruise singer Jane McDonald, is in its fifth series. Episodes three and four of series five, which broadcast on Friday 26 April and 3 May 2019 respectively, saw Jane travel to India and cruise for seven nights on Heritage River Journeys’ Ganges Voyager II.
“We were delighted to have Jane and her TV crew onboard our stunning Ganges Voyager II ship,” said Raj Singh Managing Director for Exotic Heritage Group. “The show really captured the mystique of the Ganges and showcased the majesty of our ships beautifully. We’re anticipating a significant increase in demand for our Ganges itineraries, due to the inspiration the show has provided to holidaymakers seeking an exotic adventure in incredible India.”
Jane’s adventure starts in Kolkata before she sets sail on the Ganges. Stop-offs include the temple city of Kalna, the grand palaces of the city of Murshidabad and the former French colonial town of Chandannagar. Onboard Ganges Voyager II, Jane learns how to wear a sari, rustle up a spicy Bengal curry and has her hands painted with a beautiful henna design.
Ganges Voyager, launched in 2015, and identical sister ship Ganges Voyager II, launched in 2016, were the first luxury vessels of their kind in India. 28 beautifully-appointed cabins accommodate 56 guests, with 35 crew members on-board to cater to their every need.
Delicious food is served in a multi-cuisine dining room, and handcrafted cocktails, fine wines and on-board entertainment are enjoyed in the relaxing bar area. The spa offers a variety of regional Indian and Western treatments using all-natural products. Guests sleep and rest in spacious suites of five differing types, all with hand-stencilled walls, lavish bed linens, fine wood furniture, floor-to-ceiling glass doors with panoramic river views and much more.
Both ships sail the ‘Heritage Cruise’ itinerary, which Jane McDonald experienced. Embarking and disembarking in Kolkata, the destinations visited include Bandel, Kalna, Matiari, Khushbagh, Baranagar, Murshidabad, Mayapur and Chandernagore. Prices start from USD$3,890pp.
All prices are based on two travellers sharing one cabin. Pricing includes accommodation, shore excursions, onboard meals, entertainment and some complimentary beverages. International flights, hotel accommodation before/after the cruise, imported drinks and tipping is additional.
